Quick introductory interview.

Interview with Deep.
1. Who are you and how did the band get started?

We are Deep from Helsinki Finland. (Yes, we know there are hundreds of deeps around, but we were the first (almost)). Deep was originally Mr.S's solo project for some gothic-doom songs formed in 2006. But throughout the years it has become a band with it's own doomish style. S composes, has the guitar and does some vocal duties, Mr. Dark Woods plays bass and has his gloomy input in our sounds, Mr. Infected Limb batters the drums all he can and takes care of our art work.

2.Why did you choose Doom, and how would you describe your style?

Well there was really no other choice, since the world is what it is. A doomed place to be. All the bitterness, pointlessness, pain and other daily stuff just turns into this kind of music as we slowly rot away. Our style has changed from trying to be a traditional doom band to this something that we really are. A mix of doomish spheres and some gothic influences with the hint of prog. Truthfully I really don't know. It's just what comes out of this band. The songs are initially quite slow and extra heavy but after our rehearsals they somehow get some air beneath and raise to some other unnamed heavy metal level. I fucking don't know. Listen and tell.

3.What would you consider to be the high point of your career so far?

Thats easy to say 'cos there really hasn't been any (and what career?). But some glory days have passed as we got our ep Celebrity Death done (check the bandcamp link...) and we had some fun doing gigs with the neat Ritual Mist.

4. Which three bands most influenced you?

Cathedral has been a great influence, since it was the band that really did hit something inside Mr.S after those Carcass and Morbid Angel years. Obviously there was this Obituarys Cause Of Death and Slowly We Rot. But those aren't really doom, are they? Anyway if I have understood right also Mr. Infected Limb is some kind of Cathedral fan. Then there's Pentagram it's just pure gold. Wolf's Blood was something else as it still makes the tears fall after all these years. And finally Saint Vitus. How can something be so magnificent with so little. Of course we don't sound anything like these.

5. What are your plans for the near future?

We have recorded ten or something songs that we are planning to get published one way or another. There's some previews on our bandcamp page. All labels, promos and die hard fans(?) check them out...

6. If there is anything you would like to add, the last words are yours.

All shall die.
