Quick introductory interview.

Interview with Motherslug.
1. Who are you and how did the band get started?

Motherslug started in 2012 and the original line up was Nick, Ferg, Matt, Cam and Cyn. Both Ferg and Matt have since left the band and we have been playing with Regan as a four piece since December 2015 when we started putting together the songs for Electric Dunes.

2. Why did you choose Doom, and how would you describe your style?

Back in 2012 we all worshiped Electric Wizard and Clagg and their ability to construct sprawling songs that sucked you into their world. The atmosphere that you can create in doom, the despair, the power and heaviness can be really transcendent. With our current lineup we also add mellow psychedelic vibes and extended jams into the mix whilst still retaining that crushing power.

3. What would you consider to be the high point of your career so far?

We have supported a few big names but the highlight was playing to a sold out crowd at a metal festival a while back. Just before we started playing they shut the doors when the venue hit capacity. We played a great set and the crowd really dug it. The vibe you get from a full house enjoying your music is like nothing else.

4. Which three bands most influenced you?

Kyuss for those driving rhythms, Black Sabbath for the riffs and Electric Wizard for that down-tuned despair that defines the whole genre.

5. What are your plans for the near future?

We have a back-log of songs built up over the time it has taken to produce the Electric Dunes album so we're keen to head straight back into the studio to demo more tracks for the next album.

6. If there is anything you would like to add, the last words are yours.

Smoke the Universe.
