Quick Introductory Interview

Interview with Walpurgis.
1. Who are you and how did the band get started?

Walpurgis is a French metal band born in 2008. It was created from the ashes of a death metal band and then grew into something more eclectic musically as a tool to express different emotions. There was a need to write stories about mythology, ancient tales, religion and symbolism.

2. Why did you choose Doom, and how would you describe your style?

Walpurgis sails between Black, Heavy and Doom. Each song is written in a particular mood. Sometimes it comes fast and violent, as in The Gates of R'Lyeh. Sometimes it can be slow and contemplative, as in Bewitching Song. Doom is rooted deep in the band influences but it is not an explicit choice. It just expresses itself when the song needs it.

3. What would you consider to be the high point of your career so far?

The releasing of Above the Stars, first album from the band. It started as a dream 10 years ago. It needed that time to grow from a single idea to a fully produced album, from nothing to everything.

4. Which three bands most influenced you?

Cradle of Filth, My Dying Bride, Children of Bodom.

5. What are your plans for the near future?

Spread the word everywhere that Above the Stars is available. Meanwhile, record new titles with brand new gear.

6. If there is anything you would like to add, the last words are yours.

Fuck the world. Express yourself.
