Quick introductory interview

Interview with Atavisma.
1. Who are you and how did the band get started?

We are Atavisma and we're hailing from Paris. The band started in late 2013 when G.(guitars, lyrics) met L. (vocals, lyrics). The two of us recorded our first demo "Where Wolves Once Dwelled" a few months after, and we were joined by C. (drums), and W.(bass). Both of them have left the band. G.D replaced C. and a new bassist will be announced soon.

2. Why did you choose Doom, and how would you describe your style?

Originally, I wanted to form a Death Metal band, but L.'s voice is very deep and guttural so after recording the first song of the demo, the other songs went more in the doom direction. If I had to describe the band's style myself, it would be Doomed Death Metal. Other people described us with the same term as well, or just as Death Metal; some even described us as Blackened Death Metal, although I fail to see where they've heard black metal elements in our music.

3. What would you consider to be the high point of your career so far?

The release of our debut album "The Chthonic Rituals" which will be out on July 23rd on Memento Mori on CD format. To that we can also add our first headlining national tour in February 2017 which was a great success, as well as the Spanish tour in February 2018.

4. Which three bands most influenced you?

Tough question, since three isn't enough. But the bands that made me, personally, want to play the music that we play are Incantation, Unleashed and Asphyx, since these three bands introduced me to Death Metal and Doom Metal.

5. What are your plans for the near future?

Play as many shows as we can. We absolutely love playing our music live and since we play Doomed Death, it allows us the have variety in our setlists and adapt it for every show, so it's never getting boring. We plan to record a few tracks as well before focusing on our second album.

6. If there is anything you would like to add, the last words are yours.

Only Death and Doom Remain.
