Quick introductory interview.

Interview with Sons Of Alpha Centauri.
1. Who are you and how did the band get started?

Sons of Alpha Centauri and we formed in 2001 in Kent, UK.

2. Why did you choose Doom, and how would you describe your style?

We’re pretty eclectic and our style touches on doom through our more dare I say our ‘post metal’ and ambient vibe. We’re pretty introvert as a band and really love the ‘funeral doom’ style through bands like ‘Shape of Despair’ and ‘Skepticism’ so occasionally this pushes through into our music as true darkness.

3. What would you consider to be the high point of your career so far?

I think the musical partnership with Karma to Burn. The vinyl releases, the boxset and touring. That would be my highlight personally as I grew up listening to that band and whenever there would be a party I’d always turn up with their first few records in my CD bag and would put it on the stereo.

4. Which three bands most influenced you?

Entombed, Helmet and Black Sabbath. Yeah, that’s a pretty good selection. It could have been another 3 but they’re the first that came to mind.

5. What are your plans for the near future?

The release of our second album ‘Continuum’. The debut was released in 2007 so it’s taken 11 years to bring this together. We made so much money on that record that we didn’t need to cut a record for over a decade. Yeah, right. Hope you can check out the new album – we went onto an abandoned Russian submarine as urban explorers. Intense.

6. If there is anything you would like to add, the last words are yours

We’re not really into self congratulatory promotion as it’s just a sea of white noise with bands citing ‘critical acclaim’ on themselves so anything we do is pretty introvert. Like funeral doom I guess - love the hatred and self loathing.
