All Shades of Grey : Anaestheticum DEMO 2006

My first impression after reading their name on the demoís front cover was that I'll have to bear with a Doom/Goth band, and I couldnít have been more wrong.

The youngsters from Poland are playing Doom Death with some epic Black elements here and there. They use both clean vocals and grunts - the clear voice reminding me of those of On Thorns I Lay. The band tries (and to some extent succeeds in it) and creates a dark and melancholic atmosphere; but the lack of experience prevents them from keeping it under control for long as their varied influences eventually take over and make the music inconsistent. Another thing that is not helping them is the production of the demo - which is closer to what you hear from a recorded rehearsal session.

Having in mind the young age of the band members, I canít be harsh in my critique, and I really believe that they will progress with time in developing a more personal and mature sound.
