Corrupted : Anciano

Despite the fact that Corrupted has only existed for 9 years as I write this in early autumn of the year 2004, they have still managed to produce 23 releases. That is an average of approximately two and a half releases per year. Indeed an impressive discography.

This is their first release, which already gives clear hints of what is to come. Raw and pounding sludge emanates in filthy waves from this vinyl. Deep guttural growls spit out the lyrics, primarily in Spanish. I have yet to find out why it is so that a Japanese band would choose Spanish lyrics, but it does fit remarkably well.

Being primarily influenced by the first sludge bands, it's no surprise that fans of Grief and Eyehategod should find this to their liking. Perhaps even fans of Crowbar would be interested. But most of all fans of Corrupted's later works would be the ones who should truly seek this one out.
