Funeral Doom, Gothic/Doom Funeral was one of the pioneers of 'Funeral Doom Metal', combining deep male grunts and ultra slow Death/Doom with classical guitars, Gregorian chants (on Tristesse), as well as angelic female vocals (on Tragedies). On In Fields of Pestilent Grief, the music is more aggressive and accessible, with operatic female singing on lead. Later works see a development to mellow Gothic Doom with clean male vocals and orchestral arrangements. Altogether, their discography consists of very depressing, yet melodic, Doom which could be comparable to bands like My Dying Bride, Ava Inferi, and Mournful Congregation. |
