Death/Doom, Gothic/Doom My Dying Bride is best known as one of the famous "Peaceville three" bands. Their album 'Turn Loose the Swans' is considered one of the more important doom/death releases. The band was one of the first, if not the first, to use a full time violinist to compliment their music and experimented with the combination of growls and clean vocals at a very early point in their musical career. My Dying Bride has influenced many bands over the years, and the only member of the Peaceville three to never stop being doom metal. |

Violinist Martin Powell left after 'Like Gods of the Sun' and the band did not take on a new one until their 'For Lies I Sire' album in 2009. Since then, Martin has also played in Cradle of Filth, Cryptal Darkness, as well as Anathema on their 'Alternative 4' album. Also note that '34.788 percent...Complete' is a controversial album that is rather unlike anything else they did before or afterwards. - Current members Hamish Glencross and Shaun Steels used to play in Solstice |
