Stoner/Doom, Gothic/Doom
This unique Russian group demonstrate the ability to be versatile within Doom by significantly changing their style and still managing to pull it off well. Their first album, Escape to Dreamlands, showed them pursuing an aggressive and folky blend of Gothic/Death/Doom with a mix of operatic female singing and deep growls, over majestic keys, flutes, and epic riffs. However, their work since then showed them dropping the female vocals, and going for a very slow, heavy, and relaxed sounding Stoner/Doom style, while still retaining the flutes and deep grunts for added intensity. While their earliest material would be most pleasing for fans of Draconian and early-Tristania, their later stuff is more in line with Acid King or even a doomier Alice in Chains. |
