Gothic/Doom, Death/Doom
This newly reformed Polish band was one of the lesser known pioneers of the
early Gothic Metal sound; having been overshadowed by the likes of more well known bands such as Theatre of Tragedy, Paradise Lost, and
Moonspell. Their first album Acme consists of romantic and
gloomy Gothic/Doom Metal, mixed with sporadic bits of Death Metal. Their
vocals include death growls, ethereal female singing, and Peter Steele-style
male singing. Violins, synthesizers, and melodic guitar leads give the music a
very uplifting and majestic atmosphere. Though their later material takes a
more Progressive route, Acme is an album that would be treasured by
fans of Paradise Lost, Type O Negative, and early
Pyogenesis. |
