Amorphis

Finland - Active.

Description

Death/Doom, Progressive Doom

Amorphis can be counted as one of the early pioneers of Finish death metal along with fellow countrymen Sentenced. Their debut 'The Karelian Isthmus' showed some similarities to diSEMBOWELMENT and is notable for being a grindy/doom/death release. Their second album 'Tales from the Thousand Lakes' was more straight forward symphonic doom/death with clean and growled vocals. The Fins quickly incorporated prog and non-metallic elements into their sound, before moving in a more progressive metal/traditional metal direction. Those influences have continued to appear sporadically - and occasionally more dominantly, throughout their career.
