Fretting Obscurity

Ukraine - Active.

Description

Death/Doom, Funeral Doom

A solo project from Yaroslav Yakos, based in Kyiv, Fretting Obscurity give their mission statement as "the style of the project was shaped by a 'three-guitar canon' as represented by Mournful Congregation and tends towards the use of multiple layers with occasional heavy passages and doom-death riffs". In practice, the dominant guitar-work seems a little too dynamic for true Funeral aesthetics, and spends more time in the slow Death/Doom borderlands. Sombre, well-crafted, and with distinctly personal lyrical content, perhaps the most apt comparison would be a somewhat more animated Mistress Of the Dead.
