Death/Doom Originally a solo project started in 2010, Kuolemanlaakso subsequently expanded into a full line-up. Conceptually, their melodic Death/Doom works are centred around Finnish poetry, with lyrics written in their mother tongue. The inclusion of Swallow The Sun's vocalist Mikko Kotamäki invites a not-unreasonable comparison with that band. |

'Kuolemanlaakso' translates as 'Death Valley' in English. Note that the 2018 release 'M. Laakso - Vol. 1: The Gothic Tapes' was intended as a very much solo project, although members of the band contributed to the recording, and is not representative of the main Kuolemanlaakso canon. |
