Sludge/Doom Iron Monkey originally started out as a band which intended to annoy everyone. Apparantly they failed in that mission as quite a lot of modern sludgers consider them to be one of their biggest influences. It is only their first album, that can be considered sludge doom. Much like Eyehategod they mix sludge doom with stoner, but the band copies no one. Their later works have minor doom influences, but the music is mainly metalcore. |

Singer Johnny Morrow died from kidney failure in 2002. After a hiatus of nearly 20 years, in 2017 founders Jim Rushby and Steve Watson reformed the band for "Phase 2 of Operations", swiftly releasing album '9-13' thereafter. |
