Quick introductory interview.

Interview with Nest.
1. Who are you and how did the band get started?

We are two brothers from Sweden, Fredrik and Jonas, and a drummer from France, Dave, who were introduced by a common friend. We had a couple of riffs and ideas, but no drummer, and it’s hard to get songs together without drums. Along came Dave and it just worked. His death metal background really complemented our slow, monotonous riffing. After that it was just a matter of getting a couple of songs together and start looking for gigs.

2. Why did you choose Doom, and how would you describe your style?

I don’t know if we chose doom as much as doom is what happens to come out when we play. It’s what we listen to and what inspires us. Don’t get me wrong, we listen to a lot of different music, but when all that inspiration turns into songs it turns into doom. If it even is doom. I don’t know if I’m the right guy to describe our music or style. I guess it’s up to the listener.

3. What would you consider to be the high point of your career so far?

Opening for Eyehategod.

4. Which three bands most influenced you?

Only three? I could list hundreds from Townes Van Zandt and Blind Willie Johnson to Amebix and SunnO))). But three major ones are definitely Electric Wizard, Neurosis, and Sleep. But that doesn’t even begin to cover it.

5. What are your plans for the near future?

Right now we’re writing songs to try and get another record out. Obviously we want to play more shows outside of Stockholm and Sweden, but nothing lined up so far.

6. If there is anything you would like to add, the last words are yours.

I’d just start ranting.
