Quick introductory interview.

Interview with GoneZilla.
1. Who are you and how did the band get started?

We are GoneZilla from Lyon, France. The band was created in 2011 as a rock and hard rock cover band. After a line-up change we decided to write and perform only our music. Our first album was a blend of all the band members' influences, from alternative metal to black metal, with of course doom metal too.

2. Why did you choose Doom, and how would you describe your style

The first record was mainly with female lead vocals, but we had some great feedback on the track blending female clean vocals and male growls, so we decided to push further in that direction.

Our music was already quite grim and our lyrics were meant to be written in a poetic way (lyrics are in French language), focused on topics such as religion, death etc... We were all fans of bands such as Paradise Lost, Avatarium or Katatonia, so chose doom quite naturally.

If I needed to put a label on our music, I'd say that we play Gothic/Melodic Doom Metal.

3. What would you consider to be the high point of your career so far?

Being able to play several times abroad in 2018 was definitely huge for us. The release of our first LP was something too...

4. Which three bands most influenced you?

Without hesitation I'd say Draconian, Trees of Eternity & Swallow the Sun.

5. What are your plans for the near future?

We are releasing an new EP next month and already have material for the next LP!

6. If there is anything you would like to add, the last words are yours.

Thank your and your readers for your attention! We hope that you'll appreciate our work...
