3D House of Beef : Dog

Three of the tracks on this release have been released before on 3D House Of Beef's debut album ’Similar Attack Pattern’. The other three (track 3,4 and 6) are unique to this release.

The music is pretty much straightforward sludge doom with a pumping pulsation. Although the sound is pumping, it is not really stonerish. Instead it reminds me more of a hardcore/mallcore influence. But this shouldn't scare off any of the sludgers who stand against mainstream music. The music is still much more appealing to a fan of sludge with stoner elements than a nu-metaller.

Unlike most sludge, the music on this release is quite accessible and not really that hard to get fond of. On the other hand, they make sure that their music doesn’t get too accessible and thus it doesn't get boring after a while either. And although the album is mid-tempo, it is still impressively heavy.

The vocals vary between being growled and non-strained vokills. In addition, and then especially on the last track, there are spoken sections that sound like they have been taken from TV shows and then mixed with distortion and/or echoing.

I guess that the best picture of this music can be seen as a dark sewer with the red eyes of vile creatures staring at you from the darkest corners. You can really sense something hateful frowning at you from somewhere. It isn't too hard to point out where it is as the furious red eyes give away its position.

Sadly this EP was originally released on mp3.com. Now that mp3.com removed all of it's old content, this EP went with it. Now it's impossible to get hold of.
