Never before have I stumbled upon something that is this hard to pronounce. I guess one could always try, but the words are chosen because they are unspeakable. They simply describe the music so well. This project is a dedication to the works of H.P. Lovecraft and the name is taken from a short story called The Rats In The Walls. "Ungl unl... rrlh ... chchch..." are the last words uttered by a madman who just ate someone called Captain Norrys. There are actually lyrics on all tracks although they can be very hard to hear. And each one of them is taken from Lovecraft's tales. The first track is a prolonged industrial rumbling noise which creates a claustrophobic and sinister effect. Along with the radio-like samples the track is very similar to the works of Girnų Giesmės. It's also far longer than any of the other tracks on the demo, lasting nearly 18 minutes. That's nearly half the release length. The second is a weird and chaotic, yet haunting track created purely out of a piano. The third is a humming track of a druidic tribal sound. Very trancelike and shamanic. The fourth is a dark ambient track with absolutely the most haunting atmosphere of the tracks. For those who like Halo Manash then that track could be your cup of tea. The last track is the only real doom track on the album, albeit it's not metal, and it's not particularly long. It lasts only 1 minute and 50 seconds, but the thick wall of doomy sound is a must hear for those who like really noisy doom. Ungl'Unl'Rrhl'Chchch is a side project from Trollmann av ildtoppberg, but doesn't sound anything like it. Basically this is something for industrial/darkwave/dark ambient fans mostly. Although the last track does appeal to doomy ears. |
